Cleveland Police Authority undertakes a wide range of consultation activities to obtain the views of the people of Cleveland on policing, crime and anti-social behaviour issues.
This ranges from a large scale telephone survey to consultation roadshows at summer events, together with focused work with local communities. Our programme of consultation aims to reach all sectors of our communities, including 'hard to reach' groups and young people. All of the work which is undertaken is reported in the end of year consultation report which is used, together with strategic assessments, national priorities and crime and anti-social behaviour data to influence the policing priorities for the forthcoming year.
Our joint Consultation Strategy sets out the framework for how Cleveland Police and Cleveland Police Authority will undertake public consultation.
During 2010 you told us that anti social behaviour remains your number one concern, in particular criminal damage, drunk and rowdy behaviour and people using or dealing drugs. Our policing priorities for 2011/2012, as set out below, aim to address some of the key priorities which you have raised with us:
- Reducing crime
- Reducing anti-social behaviour
- Keeping you safe
- Delivering value for money
Public confidence in policing remains a key priority for the Authority, and is measured both nationally, through the British Crime Survey (BCS), and locally, through the Local Public Confidence Survey. Latests BCS results place Cleveland as the top police force in the country for public confidence.
