Peter was born and brought up on Teesside where he has lived all his life. Following an apprenticeship in the Steel Industry he worked as a chemist at ICI for 10 years. He subsequently qualified as a Social Worker and later gained a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Teesside University.
Peter retired as Assistant Chief Probation Officer from Teesside Probation Service in 2005. In addition to being an Independent Member of Cleveland Police Authority, Peter is a Non-Executive Director with Stockton NHS and is a trustee of Stockton Churches Mission to the Homeless (Bridge House Hostel, Stockton). Peter is also a past President of Teesside West Rotary Club. He believes his experience in the Probation Service lends itself to a knowledge of some of the wider criminal justices in Teesside. He believes in the basic humanity and resilience of Teessiders and is proud to be one of their number.
