Youngsters across the Cleveland area have once again joined with Cleveland Police Authority to produce information for young people about how policing is delivered in their local area—and how they can play a role in shaping its future.

A selection of the young people involved in the 2011-12 project with their ASDAN Awards with
Pam Andrews-Mawer of Cleveland Police Authority, Temp DCC Dave Pickard,
PCSO Rachel Shepherd and Natasha Pollock (Just 4 Youth).
This is the fifth year that the Authority, in conjunction with the Just4Youth organisation, owned by West Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Trust, has given young people the opportunity to devise their own ‘youth proofed’ versions of the annual policing plan.
The young people, who have produced four versions of the plan—one for each Force district—were recruited via a number of different organisations, including the Police Cadets, the West View Project in Hartlepool, Coast and Country Housing in Redcar and Cleveland and the Hype Project in Stockton.
Each plan contains a range of information—including how the force is performing in bringing down crime and delivering some of the highest confidence levels in the country, together with a message from the local district commander, a range of useful numbers for help and support…and the chance to win a prize by responding to a survey asking for views on the effects of different types of crime and anti-social behaviour.
The efforts of the young people were recognised at a launch event for the plans attended by senior figures from Cleveland Police Authority and the Force, together with officers and staff who have worked with them.
