Chief Constable of Cleveland Police Sean Price said: “I’m delighted and proud to recognise members of the Neighbourhood Policing Teams for the excellent work they do together with our partnership agencies and with the support of local communities.

“The nominations submitted have given heart-warming examples of the work that our teams are carrying out in our local neighbourhoods and the positive feedback from members of the public is greatly appreciated.

“I would also like to pay a special tribute to Dennis Lynas who joined the Force as a Volunteer in November 2007 aged 77. He had an extremely valuable role at Eston Police Office working on the front desk, and he sadly passed away last month. He will be very much missed.”

Added Police Authority Chair Peter Race “Once again these awards have highlighted the huge contribution which our officers, community support officers, special constables and volunteers make to their local communities—and it goes far beyond simply tackling crime.

“As the citations to the award winners demonstrate, our people are at the heart of improving the quality of life for local people, whether it is building bridges between local residents and the police and working with young people, or supporting the elderly and disabled and setting up a Dog Watch scheme, they are making a huge impact within their communities.

“We have always recognised that our most important resource is people— the men and women who have worked tirelessly to make the Cleveland Force one of the best in the country. These awards are a way of saying ‘thank you’ not just to the winners but all their colleagues on the front-line, in our support services and our partner agencies who make such an important contribution in reducing crime and improving community safety.”

The Awards were sponsored by the Authority's strategic partners, Steria and Reliance.
