“I’m proud that Neighbourhood Policing in Cleveland has contributed to a 14% reduction in crime over the last year, by working with local people to tackle the issues that really matter to them.

“Everyone who has been nominated should be truly proud of themselves and I would like to thank everyone for their contribution to reducing crime and anti-social behaviour and keeping public confidence levels in Cleveland Police high.”

Added Police Authority Chair Councillor Dave McLuckie: “I think the very positive response we have had for these first awards demonstrates just how much the public value the difference which Neighbourhood Policing has had in strengthening the links between the police and local communities.

“What is also underlines is the importance of police and public working together—our local community officers, community support officers, special constables and, of course, the local volunteers who are vital to ensuring that we are able to tackle those issues which affect people’s day-today lives.”

The Cleveland area winners for the Neighbourhood Officer category and Neighbourhood Police Community Support Officer category will now be put forward for the national Jane’s Police Review Awards.
