24.09.10 Youngsters Put Their Own Stamp On Policing Plan

Young people across the Cleveland Police area are once again getting their own versions of information on how policing is delivered in their area—and it’s thanks to the efforts of a group of local youngsters.

The ‘youth proofed’ versions of the annual policing plan have been produced thanks to a joint initiative between Cleveland Police Authority and the Just 4 Youth young person-led social enterprise, owned by West Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Trust.

This is the fourth year that a team of young people have taken the policing plan and produced versions—one for each of the four force districts—explaining how the police service works and  providing a range of information, including details of the neighbourhood policing officers covering local schools and colleges.

This year there is also the chance for young people take part in an art competition on the theme of ‘Keeping People Safe@Christmas’ and enter a prize draw by giving their opinions on what crimes concern them most and how they think anti-social behaviour should be tackled.

The youngster’s efforts were recognised at a launch event attended by senior figures from Cleveland Police Authority and the Force together with officers and staff who worked with them on producing the plans.
