A message from the Chair of Cleveland Police Authority, Cllr Dave McLuckie supporting the Policing Pledge
Both Cleveland Police Authority and the Force are committed to putting the needs and concerns of our local communities at the centre of our service -- and that commitment is reflected in our adoption and endorsement of the 'Policing Pledge' -- the charter for policing excellence developed by the Home Office, the Association of Police Authorities and the Association of Chief Police Officers.
With the ambition to 'support law abiding citizens and pursue criminals relentlessly to keep your neighbourhoods safe from harm' the Policing Pledge sets out targets to be met across a wide range of areas such as quality of service, call and incident handling and keeping victims of crime updated on the progress of investigations.
We welcome the Policing Pledge because it reflects and supports the 'Putting People First' commitment developed by our Chief Constable Sean Price, with backing from the Authority, which has been central to the progress we have made in recent years in reducing crime and significantly increasing public confidence in the police.
The fact that we now have the highest level of public confidence of any force in the country is very welcome, but we are determined to continue moving forward, working with local people through our Neighbourhood Policing teams, listening and responding to the issues which concern them and affect their daily lives -- and providing them with more information about crime issues in their areas.
The Policing Pledge is important because it sets out some very clear standards which the public can expect from their police service -- and that we will deliver.
