Appointment of an Independent Member

 

Are you interested in helping to shape the future of Policing in the area?

Cleveland Police Authority is looking to appoint an Independent Member from the local Community to work alongside the other Independent Members, Councillors and Lay Justices on the body who are responsible for securing effective and efficient policing in the area, consulting with the public and building a partnership between the police and the local communities.

Independent Members are expected to:

Applicants to become an Independent Member need to commit a minimum of 10 hours a week on average.  Appointments are for a term of four years for which an allowance and expenses are payable.

If you are 18 or over and live or work in the Cleveland Police Authority area (which covers the four unitary council areas of Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland and Stockton on Tees) you can apply to become an Independent Member.

Cleveland Police Authority wishes to reflect the composition of the area and welcomes application from all eligible people – irrespective of disability, ethnic origin, gender, religious belief, sexual orientation or other factor.  We want our independent membership to represent as diverse a range of people as possible.

The closing date for applications is Friday 11 July 2008.
